Some additional questions:
- I've seen that in big camps there's "Cutlery and Plates Hampers (from Reception)". Does it mean that where I've no utensil in the bungalow (there is one case) I can take everything from the reception?

- On the "comunal ablution" (HUT) is not clear if the shower is common but a small toilet is in the hut or not.

which camp.?

generally communal ablutions means no toilet in your hut! camp site ... hence the need for sandals, shoes and a torch!
showers etc are private !

Talamati will have the cutlery that you need. It is well equiped.

As far as I know, it is possible to hire hampers from reception.

I find the mugs/cups supplied a little small, so I like to buy my own insulated mug when I visit. I. also take a flask for drinks at waterholes, or dams.

Although blankets are supplied, I have on occasion found it chilly. I take thermal long johns and spensers to help keep warm.

I do wish you a wonderful trip.

I think you are going to have one amazing trip, Nabla.

Most of the accommodation have got enough blankets available, it really does not get that cold in the KNP, but, during cold spells an extra blanket might be required, if your unit does not have enough available, you can always arrange for more at the restcamp reception.

If you are self catering, take a sharp knife for food preparation (though don't forget to put in your main luggage, not cabin!!!)

Wishing you a wonderful time.

We are a family of two adults and three children (ages 12, 9, and 9). We have bookings for one four-bed Safari tent in Letaba and one in Skukuzu and one three-bed bungalow in Berg-en-dal. Sanparks Bookings people are trying to get us to book two tents and two bungalows. Can we bring our own mattresses or have mattresses added to accommodate five in one tent/bungalow in each of these locations?

Travelmom, best to contact the camps and ask if they have mattresses for you to use - some camps do, and will allow you to put a matteress in the units. They are the best to advise though. Also, check availability of mattresses for the time you are planning to go with them, and ask if you can book mattresses to be assured you will get, as they have limited stock.

Do you have the camp contact details?

Here are the Camp Tel #'s
Can you not book a FA6 Family Cottage in Berg & Dal which would suit your needs for that camp otherwise you would need 2 mattresses in there.
The only only other option would be if the 9 year olds share a bed.

Hello!
Have a few very novice questions.
I have prebooked nights at campsites and night drives and all, but how does it work when I actually reach the gates and camps? Should I print off the confirmation emails to show them? Or is something else required or something else happen?
Also, with nights booked at campsites, does this mean I have a reservation at the gates and won't be turned away on crowded days?

Apologies for my utter lack of experience!

Warm welcome to the forum Welshie!

All you really need for the gate/camp is the Reservation numbers R******* but you can print off your booking if preferred.
You will also need to show them either an ID or passport.
If you have overnight accommodation booked you will not be turned away at the gate as you will have already been included in the gate quota.
Please do ask if there are any further question you need to know.

Thanks Elsa, and thanks for answering my questions perfectly!
May I ask if it's the same with the night drives - just show the reservation no.?

If you have pre-booked all your accommodation and activities they should all be on the same reservation #.

Hi I'm trying to change my accommodation on a booking that is fully paid, just want to swap a few days around but only have the option to cancel not change or modify. Don't want to cancel. one night before I've booked another. I'm trying yo change camps but it just gives me the option to change the accommodation within the camp I've booked. Any help appreciated, I've done it before but I can't remember how I did it! Thanks

Lindah, I have often changed bookings for various reasons and I have never had a problem. Simply email your request to reservations and they will get back to you. Good luck

Thanks Meandering Mouse I've done that but thought you could modify bookings using real time online booking service.

You certainly should be able to do that Linda, not sure why you are having problems doing so! :?
