Ya......

Actually I was wondering about that seat or bench at Bateleur right at the fence. It's quite dangerous, just a meter or two away facing the fence. I don't know if anyone knows that elephants can climb that bank little way up from the water hole and walk along the ridge few steps in the thicket to the fence

Its been there for years so has the water hole so Im sure they are aware......maybe that elephants sense of smell was a bit impaired because of that portion of the trunk missing...also possible.

The bench is nice though for looking out over the grass in the morning it is/was clear for quite a way. Im not exactly relaxed anymore just sit for a few brief moments since that day. You can't see from the left what's coming as there were trees and bushes.

We had the most amazing week - will try and get a TR together soon! But again, not sure when the next time will be, and hopefully not 6 more years!

March 2016, first time in Kruger. We stopped at a picnic spot to stretch our legs and use the facilities. Getting back into the car, I sat on the seat and stopped for a moment to knock the dirt and sand off my shoes. As I turned and got in, putting my camera bags down beside me, a large male baboon leaped onto my lap. That's right. This fellow was inside the car with us, astride my lap, his head inches from mine.
What do you do? Scream, of course! I screamed, at which my son and his GF turned and saw the beast so they screamed too. The animal didn't care; he was only interested in the paper bags in the car. He reached over me, snatched the bags, and jumped out.
On the ground beside the car, he opened the bag to find that no food was in the bag. He reached up for the door to come back into the car. My arm shot out, grabbing the handle first, and slammed the door shut. Then I cried.

Very scary indeed, do you mind saying which picnic site it was that this occurred?

Last year we stayed at Keartland guest house in Lower Sabie. It was a hot day and it started to get very windy.During the afternoon I decided to have a siesta in the bedroom but had only been asleep for a few minutes when I was woken by shouting and I remember hearing the word "snake".
Well being a great fan of our reptilian friends I jumped up and ran outside to see what was going on.Unfortunately ,on the electric fence was a smallish black mamba, contorting with the electric shocks.I picked up a branch and managed to flip it off the wires so that it fell over the wall, where it continued to move but was obviously mortally ill.
Apparently a gust of wind had dislodged it from the large tree and it had fallen onto the wires only 6 feet from where the rest of my party had been relaxing in the shade!!!
My wife gets all the luck,as I've said I love snakes but don't see enough of them, but she is not keen on them, but sees them all the time.
