Hi all

Well done Imberbe and everyone else Tamboti was absolutely correct.
When burned Tamboti wood gives of smoke which is highly toxic if inhaled.
Onto you Imberbe.

About the 3 day rule, I have decided on this rule so as to prevent the quiz from being held up by forumites who fail to reply when it is their turn to submit a question.

My fruit is edible and quite sought after. Even humans use it to make jelly, wine and mampoer.
I prefer rocky areas.
My leathery leaves are dark green on the top and light brown at the bottom.
I grow in the Northern parts of South Africa.
My Afrikaans name is derived from the peculiar place I grow my fruit.

Who am I?
Imberbe = Combretum imberbe = Leadwood = Hardekool = The spirit of the Wildernis!

Indeed Stamvrug / Transvaal milkplum

Stamvrug = stem / trunk fruit. The fruit grows on the trunk of the tree, even very low down at ground level.

Thank you Imerbe. I am busy growing a few stamvrug trees to plant out in my garden when they are a bit larger. It is a bit slow growing though. :)

The next quizz:

I am found in the northeastern parts of SA. My leaves are crowded at the ends of my branches and I prefer rocky areas. My roots are a source of water in times of drought. What's my scientific name?

YAY  i finally got one right

Clue1: The genus name was named in honour of Adam Afzelius of Uppsala, who lived in Somalia. The specie name refers to the Cuanza River in Angola, where the tree was first found.
