 Imberbe.

Ever since I heard this I've been looking through my zebra pictures trying to find examples. All I seem to have is pictures of healthy ones.

I am back and glad that someone has taken this forward. BTW why did none of the regular quizzers bother to ask how ol' Rooies is doing? Only joking :D I discharged myself after 4 days of pain and suffering inflicted by the doctors, nurses, pathologists, radiologists, cleaners, dieticians, cooks and lastly, my room mates that were suffering from Munchausen syndrome.

Studies have revealed that the centers of the Rhino horns have dense mineral deposits of calcium and melanin. The calcium would strengthen the horn while the melanin would protect the core from being degraded by ultraviolet radiation from the sun. And of course, Keratin, as mentioned previously

 Correct Siobain.

BTW, the general wisdom that rhino horn is in fact compressed hair is false. The closest substance is in fact horses hoofs!
