Serengeti for KNP Regulars

Unread post by jxpardo » Mon Jan 16, 2017 4:44 am

Hello all,

My wife and I made our first trek to KNP in Sept 2016. Truly amazing trip, beyond words!! Now, we are planning to make it out to Kruger every 2-3 years or so as "regulars" :)

But first! We also want to explore East Africa.

I understand this is a Kruger message board, not a Serengeti message board, BUT, I am trying to get a sense of how to do Serengeti from those that have done Kruger. From my research thus far, it seems there are fewer self drive opportunities and more luxury lodges/week long guided tours/dependence on tour groups.

Has anyone here that frequents Kruger also visited East Africa? Any suggestions? Is it possible to make it a Kruger-like experience (economical accommodations, independent itinerary, etc)? I am interested in the wildlife, not shelling out $500/night for a hotel room :)

Hi jxpardo.

I am really pleased that you enjoyed your Kruger stay so much. I am happy that you will be returning on a regular basis. :D

Perhaps someone who knows a bit more could pm you and help you with your search. I wish you luck.
