The "Lookout" at Lower Sabie??

Unread post by Travelstory » Fri Jun 02, 2017 6:17 pm

First - how many of you do as I am doing now that I am only days from leaving for Kruger National Park (from the States - 10th visit I guess without counting) which is going onto the Sanparks web page to look at maps and photos and salivate in anticipation....?

And while doing just that I read of a lookout at Lower Sabie that - it appears - is above the restaurant. What can you guys tell me as I seem to have been missing this hidden jewel if it does exist?

Only 4 more sleeps.....

HI Travelstory,

I found a lookout... At the restaurant deck...
You walk to the furthest WESTERLY part in the direction of the tented camp... There is a staircase up into the roof of the restaurant... Was dark and dirty... We went at night...

Enjoy,

That's amazing! I wonder if it is "officially" open to everyone, or is there for maintenance etc. Is there any sign at the bottom of the staircase? I wonder if anyone can elaborate more. I can see lots of people trying it out now!

Thank you Friedrich.

Went there today and spoke to the M & B staff and they confirmed the look out is no longer open!
Might need more than a clean out to get it ready for you Isinkwe!

Sorry I can't find my photos of that place now... it was a bit of a bat hideout and you could smell it. Not that it mattered... it had(/s) a lovely view and of course the chance to see the bats. But dirty, smelly, not ideal for marketing to overseas visitors I guess... was disappointed to find that door locked on one visit.
