BushChicken has said it all! Most important to keep food stored away where monkeys and baboons cannot reach it, and to put all food scraps in the animal proof bins too to discourage them from scavenging. No bread or crumbs for birds either as it will attract the animals!

I do not drop the pop-up roof when away from camp, but baboons have not been a problem at Malelane - the monkeys are aggressive enough to chase them away!!!

Also do use my full tent, but that is because I live there now. Sometimes monkeys get in under the edges and make a mess, but there is no food so they do not do it often. I also always close the caravan door if I leave it to go to the ablutions or kitchen or walk about at all.

You will enjoy it and have no trouble if you take simple sensible precautions.
Smiling is contagious. Start an epidemic today!

Have you read the entrance permit? Do you KNOW the Conditions of Entry?

Completed over 7 years in Kruger in my caravan.

If I was normal I wouldn't be me!

Hi there Leopard 75..

You are going to enjoy BnD, I am sure.

As a camper, for many years I really resisted staying there much, as I had this "personal block" :wall: about the camp and the area.

However a few years ago, just like you, I was forced by availibility to take a week there. Wow, was my perception changed, and I have kept going back every few months, and now it is always on my agenda.

It is still one of the best managed camps, and has everything for your family to enjoy and relax in the camp.
Go for a self guided walk through the camp.. and find some quiet spot near the fence in a shady area.. to beat the midday heat... and just sit and chill. 8)
and you cant do better than a midnight swim in the pool... its awesome!

Busy Holiday season can be tough while camping and game viewing on the road network nearer the camp is often hampered by heavy vehicle traffic moving to and from the camp.

Oh, and lots of rain is predicted for December, so take your spades and raincoats!

My Friend and I have decided on an impromptu weekend away this coming weekend.
By sheer dumb luck I managed to get 2 consecutive nights camping at Berg & Dal for Friday & Saturday night.

Seeing as I have never camped in Kruger before, any hints or tips specifically for this camp ?

ALL help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

k

What fantastic luck

Some tips for Camping in Kruger:
1.Arrive early
2.Keep your food box locked in your car/caravan/trailer
3.Bring a clip. lock or cable tie to secure your tent zips. Baboons at Berg en Dal can open zips
4.Relax and enjoy

Enjoy your trip

HI guys.

I am looking in booking a camp site for a week in August.

Have anyone been camping at Berg-en-Dal lately? Any views on the camping site itself, ablutions, best place to setup if possible, etc

Last time I went camping in KNP was in 2005 at Satara. Been staying in lodges, bungalows, etc but it has become an expensive exercise.
Why do time fly when you are having fun?

KNP - May'14 done and dusted
