Dear Valued Stakeholders

Kruger National Park Technical Services is in the process of finalizing the redesign of the structure, this process will be completed by the end of December; the initial upgrade design had to be redesigned to ensure full compliance with legislative framework that governs upgrades in National Parks Such as Kruger.

The upgrades are scheduled to Start in January 2017 and will take 2 months to be completed. The expected date of completion is on or before Wednesday, 01 March 2017.

Is the Struben Historical Cottage now available for reservations? Thank you for the response in advance.

Re: Skukuza Rest Camp... Camping

Hi All

We are due to visit Skukuza during the July holidays. Accommodation being our offroad trailer.

Normally I will seek out a quieter camp (Letaba a firm favourite), and try to get a fence spot.

How is camping at Skukuza? And which spots can be recommended for a soul like mine?

Please advise

Mike

Warm welcome to the forum Mike!

While waiting for regular campers to give feedback, have a read through Camping in Skukuza and also Campsites in Kruger where there is some info and advice.
Enjoy your trip in July and do ask if there is anything else we can help with.

Prime spot is when you drive down the road towards the camping area, turn at first right. Go to the end of that road, where there are a few sites along the fence. Many are not even, but your trailer might do well there anyway, and some are not easy to access - you could get parked in - but it is a quiet corner of the camp, on the fence and we head there every time. Prime spot of course is the most left site facing the fence - we have even moved camp when in Skukuza and seen that become available. Hope it will be your lucky day!

There is also a little secret 'hollow' you might get into with your trailer - next turn right after the road I mentioned in the above post, into a camping area of about 4 sites ... though that is an entrance to a single site, which is pretty private. You need to get out and walk to find it.

I read something about touroperators being rather loud and busy on that side f the terrain?
Is this still the case?

Mike, they are on the opposite side - river side. You wont miss them when you drive around to pick a site.

Blue = prime spot imo
Red = where the safari tour is set up
Yellow = road the safari tour guys use a fair bit
Lime = also great sites with lovely shade

Hi Dinky Dalene

I got the the Prime spot as per your photograph!

We were there very early, and according our tented neighbour, the previous occupant just left.

This makes me much more comfortable in the (to me) uncomfortable Skukuza.

Thanks for your advice.

Mike
