tsk tsk, the server knows you don't want nice multimedia wallpapers, and is responding in tit-for-tat behavior :)

Arks, do you have any adblock software installed on your machine as per the posts within the forum problems topic? Are you able to view videos on facebook and youtube?

No I don't have any adblock software and can view videos elsewhere with no problem :?

But as we have been told this a beta phase, so we must just be patient for the moment.

Apologies for the Orpen Webcam being 'stuck' at the moment! This is not part of the video stream beta test but we had this issue once before. A normal reboot x 4 did not resolve the issue and we are sending in the forces to physically cycle the power to the webcam which should resolve this issue!

Apologies! Should be fixed soon!

For the chat:

why not make it only available to forum members as like it is for saving highlights?

I would use it :)

Ok bad news after round 1: :?
The first round of cycling the power physically to the webcam did NOT have the desired effect and the webcam is persistently 'looking' at reception buildings (west) regardless of how many times I send other commands to it. Now and then it decides to look down into the grass and after a while a reset forces the rest camp angle again which is NOT normal. The pan servos (left and right pan does not seem to be moving a mm) and the tilt servos (up and down) are also doing only abt 70 degrees and it should be at least 4x more than that. Not sure if it is a software glitch or something physical. My colleagues at Orpen will now physically visit the webcam to inspect it. They are at Tamboti rest camp sorting out some other issues and will stop by the webcam soon...

Keep you fingers crossed!

 Elsa! It helped!

Thanks to my colleagues at Orpen who had to physically intervene, the webcam started to behave again and is 'listening' to our commands again from Pretoria! Imagine this happening with Curiosity on Mars..no chance of a quick trip to fix it manually

The webcam seems to be reacting normally again with its movement!

The live feed really is awesome - thankyou so much to everyone on the IT team for making it possible

Orpen does appear to be offline for the live stream this evening :( - is this something which someone like Danie can turn on/off, or does the cam itself stop streaming if its network isn't strong enough?

One other comment... when submitting highlights from the live cam page, from what I can tell it submits the latest still image rather than the live frame which you're watching. Might this get a bit confusing for people?

Perhaps it was based on our comments around submitting highlights - the web page for Orpen live streaming looks to have been created from a copy of the same one for still images (this one)... so I think perhaps the 'Submit Highlight' button was left on the live streaming version by accident. As picnic says... beta phase

Hope they can put the button back....in Final phase  ...or in Beta phase two

Because the Live cam has constant live video/images  ...if we see a Leopard, Lion, Ellie or another sighting it could be gone when it comes on the webcam page image......we could miss an image frame

Hi Vinkie,

The short and sweet answer, it doesn't work :)

The long answer, we launched it and "Saw" it worked, but soon figured out it was still submitting the still cams as highlights, so if you see an animal and highlight, the still might have nothing in it.

We cant do a capture on the live stream :(

Hey all,
my 2nd sighting of a jackal on the Live cam.
I had to share it as it was too fast for the other one.

I love this!!

We've just discovered the live video camera this weekend. Thank you so much. It's really awesome to be able to switch over to it when you see anything on the still camera. We watched some elephants, a warthog and buffalo at various times. In fact I just love watching the wind blowing through the bush and the water rippling.
