Last night stuartmck submitted these posts

stuartmck wrote:Hello Jungle Junkie and Lionspoon

So glad you noticed my animated image. I just thought it was a bit more interesting than lots of single images. I hope I've started a trend for some action! It brightened up a very snowy day in cold cold Scotland. Here's how -

- Right click and Save each individual image
- Use http://www.makeagif.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" to bring them all together
- Post to the webcam forum using the link given for posting to message boards (I removed the marketing they include in the link)

Have fun and thanks for all the posts you make.

Stuart

Stuart, I think your brilliant idea has definitely started a trend here

It works, coooool! 8)

And today some jousting elephants:

And it's so easy to do!

Do you think there's room for an "Animated sightings" thread? Or would they be better in the highlights thread?

I think they really add something and need a place somewhere on the forum.

What a good idea Mel to have a separate animated thread!!!Thanks Stuart for the Innovative idea...

I think it would slow down the daily webcam posts with a lot of duplicates been posted as Singles and then animated..

I have never been a steady web cam viewer, but this is much more interesting way to see them.

Someone does all the work and at the end of the day, or night the rest will have a lovely animated web cam show

P.S. Thank you Dotty, I knew I had seen it somewhere 8)

Hi all :D
When I saw Stuart's first animated sighting, my mind immediately exploded with ideas of all the great action sequences we could animate
Remember when we had all that swimming baboon activity at Satara? And in particular there was that fantastic action shot from Kamadejo of the "flying monkey". I wonder what that would look like with all the posts before and after that image put together
Before I joined the forum, I watched the cams and meticulously saved each image in a sequence, such was my joy at seeing all these amazing animals I had never seen before. I joined the forum to get an ID on a wild dog sighting, but my first post was of only one image. Here is the sequence I saw that night:
Image

So I think these animated sightings have value, not to duplicate the daily sightings so much (like watching a maribou stork move from one leg to the other over several hours perhaps wouldn't be that entertaining), but to add a little "something" more to action scenes, or the rarer sightings.

Here's a leopard sighting I dug out of my archives and "animated" :D

And I have plenty more to come!! :D :D

stuartmck wrote:WOW!!!!! You really get stuck in don't you? What fantastic animated pictures - especially of old ones you've been saving. I'm just so delighted to have started something that is creating such enjoyment. I hope makeagif.com didn't break because of us!!

Hi Stuart :D And thank you again! As you can see, we are having great fun with these animated sightings

Although I see some mites having problems? Maybe with makeagif? Lionspoon is having success with gickr.com. I have been trying some other gif creator sites I found on the web. For the sunrise and the one below I used picasion.com

I just had to animate this old sequence from October. It was the first time I ever saw a serval and I was soooo excited. Then I fell in love with servals, and that is how I got my avatar :D

Thanks for the note Mel. I tried gickr.com to start with and couldn't get the images of the elephants changing sequentially. I've a feeling that Katja's buffalos and wildebeest are doing exactly that. I gave up and used makeagif.

Perhaps you could make a recommendation about which is best based on your findings?

Excellent serval pictures, you really get a sense of it's behavior when the pictures move. I've never seen one in four trips to Kruger. My favourites are wild dogs.

So pleased that everyone is having a go - and I seem to have my very own message board!!!!!!

Hi there :D
I'm sorry some of you are having trouble creating and/or viewing these animated gifs :? But please don't give up. Perhaps try picasion.com. It is working for me

Here is another of my most exciting sightings. At first it looked like a lion - but then a leopard! And then a lion again. What do you think :hmz:
