Hi lovely cammers :yaya:

My understanding is that Rangers are allowed pet dogs, but they are kept under control (i.e. wouldn't be roaming around the park so late at night by themselves).

Tourists certainly are not permitted to take pets / dogs into the park.

I agree this photo very much looks like a little dog, but it is most unclear and so I'd like to think it is another animal that has had it's picture taken at a strange angle

I guess we may never know...

Hi all

I think it's one of the Egyptian Geese taken at a very odd angle. The pale bit that might be mistaken for a gap between the rear legs is, I think, the middle of the tail.
Back from beautiful Botswana - a long time to wait, but KNP and KTP planned for 2016!

Hi everyone. Still curious to know your thoughts on the above animal. I can't find the Nov 7th webcam sightings thread for the orpen cam, but am new to webcam spotting  . Was this animal ID'd?

kittykat23uk wrote:When I said dog I meant painted dog becaue looking at the colours it seems quite patchowrk like the mottling on a painted dog. The white could be the fluffy tail and we saw dogs in the area on the 11th October, so very possible.... :D

I don't think we will see a painted dog alone at the waterhole...most of the time they are in groups.
Could also be a honey badger....it has a tail if you look at the shadow, so don't think it's one ot the geese.

I guess we'll never know for sure, but the camera moved out of position after this shot was taken so it's possible that other animals were there, but off frame...

Is it perhaps a honey badger?.. Probably about the right size, and its back looks to be a bit more greyish than its flanks.

I would have thought there would be a more distinctive pale stripe running along the back for a Honey Badger? :hmz:

Have a look at the back left foot/leg and the shadow of the tail.
I am staying with honey badger

Definitely no stones, unless you have a moving species in SA

Hard to tell if these are the ducklings... the lighting in not very favourable. :wall:
