Not a question about an animal on the webcam per se, but does anyone know what on earth the baboon is eating/tearing apart on the 'webcam down' image?

He's fixing the wires, lemonbalm :D

But seriously, the plant looks like a sansevieria (MIL tongue) and he may have found an insect or grub in the leaf.

I see in Medicinal Plants of South Africa that sansevieria are used medicinally by people for treating, among other things, intestinal parasites. Perhaps that's what he's chewing the leaf for. Animals seem to know about medicinal plants.

:hmz: I was thinking along the lines of a pod of some sort because of those cross-ways striations - they seem to be physical rather than just markings. But then all the furry stuff in his hands!?

It certainly is a wonderful pic for its purpose, just has me very curious! :D

lemonbalm, I've asked on the plant ID thread if anyone else thinks it is a MIL tongue so we will have to wait and see what they come up with. The fluffy bit looks like a head of some sort of grass with seeds on which just happens to be in front of his hands. You can see the stem of it going down to the ground.

Gorgeous pic. :D
