Re: ? crested guinea fowl

I've also seen heaps of helmeted guinea fowl all over Kruger (& elsewhere). In the photo I thought that some of the taller birds might have been helmeted, but I guess they don't mix. I took photo's of helmeted when we were in Hhuhluwe game reserve - they're an absolutely gorgeous bird. Only 3 months til we're in Kruger. :)

I was wondering as well :hmz:
I think the slightly striped effect might just be shadows from the bushes behind the hide where the cam is situated. Could it possibly be someone cleaning the cam housing with one of those furry brushes and not an animal at all?? If an animal, much more likely to be a vervet monkey than a cat...

Yea, could be a vervet!!

I've loved watching that little plant grow in front of the webcam at Addo!

Hey Mel,

I saw this as well last night... just too busy working to have time to post
I think whatever the 'meat' is was brought in by a hyena earlier as you see here:

Q and C

Unread post by PetraJ » Thu Jul 18, 2013 8:14 am

Good morning.
On the evening of 7 July there was a big play-off at Satara between hyenas and a big male lion next to the fence in front of the guest house and the HR camping grounds at about 21h30. From about 19h00 we could hear the lions all around the camp. We watched how first the hyenas start fighting with an intruder (unknown hyena) and then the male lion charged in as well. At one point they ran to the webcam side. I was wondering if there was any footage of this on the webcams? I cannot find that days pics. Can anybody assist?
