The webcam mode was also changed to "tracking" (and not the normal pre-programmed tour of presets which lets the webcam "tour" in the programmed way). In "tracking" mode, the webcam moves to where there is movement and caused the webcam to "look around" during the night wherever movement was picked up. In the testing phase here in Pretoria, I have tested this mode which is very effective in controlled environments but it does not work perfectly out there in the bush. The webcam is unfortunately mislead by movement of grass, trees, leaves, etc and that is not perfect and it caused the webcam to be fooled by these movements! I have changed it back to normal touring this morning.

This is actually very cool functionality, pity it is so sensitive to grass movement.

But as always we are all still ecstatic to have the cam up and running, in whichever mode! The cam has given us some amazing sightings in the short time it has been back up!

Just be patient...the image size/view is not 100% yet after the change. The image displayed on the website is not the "full picture" yet...picture displayed on the website is cropped ...website team working on that (thanks Anton!)

All fixed and all working again. Image you see via our website is now what the webcam "sees" (cropping issue resolved on web).

Can anybody see/spot/guess what was done on the webcam? How is this image you see different from the images you saw up to 5 minutes ago? Hint: No changes to the viewing angle or timing were made... :cam:

Thank you so much Danie, the cam images makes us webcam addicts smile from ear to ear. Can you perhaps give us some advice wrt to streaming the live cams on android? The .flv starts to download but it goes in a download "loop" iow it does not start streaming, is there an app that you require from the playstore??

Will also say a big thanks, Danie! :gflower:

For my phone (IPhone) I am using the Puffin app and it works well for the streaming cams. I believe it is available for Android also. :)

*edited to add: I am not affliliated with Puffin

Unfortunately Orpen webcam is down due to data line communication failure to the Orpen area (camp and gate) which includes the webcam. :(

The telecoms service provider is busy working on fixing the problem! Let's hope it is online very soon again!
