Good evening YFS-ers Image

What wonderful cats we had at Nossob the other day, and ellies at Addo. It made my shortlist very hard to choose today.

From Wednesday’s selection, No 8 The main man at Satara was the winner by several lengths, with 7 WTM close up coming in second, 12 Relaxing by the pool coming in third and then a tie for 4 th place - 10, the Bateleur, 11, the hyaena cooling off, and 13, the warthog babies. No 10, Mrs Bateleur, was also the favourite bonus bird pic. No-one chose the same order. Image

Sorry I didn’t post last night, something got stuck and wouldn’t move so I had to log out. :wall:

Voters were a bit thin on the ground last week – guess folk are away or otherwise occupied. I’m sure that didn’t change the outcome of the voting though, the cats and the porcupine were the favourites.

The winning pic was 14 Golden kitties in black and white with 19 Early cheetah at Nossob second, 2 Porcupine third, and then 18 Lioness with a long shadow and 16 Midnight leopard at Orpen. Two birdie pics had two votes each, 6 the Marabou storks and 15 Three bird species in one pic. No-one had the same numbers. :(

There has been lots to see on the cams this past week, but not so many cats. And Nossob is down just when they have been forecast to have rain. :(

No surprises with last week’s favourite pics. First was the lion 4 Mr Magnificent, then a tie in second place, lions 13 Lazing by the pool and lions 17 Magnifi Cats, with No 7 The jackal parents brought their pups in fourth and No 8 Lake Orpen's hippo in fifth place. Good evening YFS-ers Image

Hope you all had a good Christmas. With Nossob down and all the rain in Kruger during the last few days, the sightings have not been quite so exciting, but there has been a good selection of critters coming to the cams.

Still not sure if what I thought was a civet last week was perhaps not a large genet. :hmz:

No 6 Late night lion was the favourite pic. There was a tie for second, 7 Soooo cute and 10 Mr Handsome in the evening, with 13 Long time no see, Mr Civet and 14 Drinking water just like Mom following up. The favourite birdie pic was No 2 Beautiful heron reflected.

Nossob is still down, Orpen too, since Friday, and even Satara is playing peek-a-boo at times. Still there were lots of young animals around, and a few bird conferences too.

Good evening YFS-ers Image

With all the rain on the east of the country and Nossob still down there have not been any large predators seen on the cams, and only a few small ones, although I think the lions at Nossob have been dancing round the water trough while we have been off-line. I’m sure the big cats have been drinking from puddles in Kruger, so our choices this week include some smaller creatures and antelope not always featured.

The favourite pic last time was No 11 Big cats at Satara, followed by 4 Little cutie, 16 More little cuties at Satara, 13 Tiny ellie in the dark, and 7 Satara's moggie. The bonus bird pic which got the most votes was No 12 Orpen bird conference. No-one had the same choices. Image
