Do you know how old she is AstroMatt?

Shame, she looking fragile ... but I am sure still needs to be treated with great respect? One hears of stories of hurt/old leopards being very dangerous?

Unusually we have a pretty good idea of her age.
She was born up at Grootkolk sometime at the start of 2006. So she would be around 8 years old at the moment. Maybe its birthday blues!

She certainly does not look good, and to lie in the sun like that makes one wonder. :hmz:

She vanished at 13:27 between frame updates. Probably a good sign. Lets just hope we get a sighting of er later and can check her condition more thoroughly.

I see on the 24th of April Wanderw said that if a previous mating was successful Lanklaas might have cubs!

Could this maybe be why she is so thin???

It is certainly a possibility. However, we've had quite a few sightings of her after the last mating (December 2013, January and April 2014) and in none of these has she looked pregnant or like she has recently given birth. It is of course very hard to tell from some of these photos so there is the possibility that her condition is due to this.
We can hope

I really hope to see her again, I am glad she walked away. When I saw her this morning before work I was worried and then when I got to work and pulled up the site there was a herd of wildebeests so I was relieved.

If anyone has saved some screen shots of the leopard(Langklaas) at the waterhole this morning, could you please forward them to the leopard project. I missed the visit this morning and AstroMatt is away. Many thanks!

Kindly take note that the leopard died last night some time. The cause of death could either be old age or an illness.

An autopsy has been done on the leopard and we are awaiting the results to confirm the cause of death if whether it was due to old age or illness.
As soon as we have the results, I will post here FYI.
