Didn't you see the Red-capped Lark at Langtoon dam on BBW 2011, DD? :?

Unfortunately not at an accessible spot for the general KNP tourist, Daan. It was the type of 'benefit' one only enjoys during special events like the Balule Bashes...

I don't know about you, but the Red-Capped Lark was never ticked in the official list for that weekend.

The following birds seen during and after the Balule Birding Bash bump my total up my total up to 349:
Collared pratincole, Red-capped lark, Icterine warbler, Senegal lapwing and Alpine swift.

Jeez, Brenden, but you ARE keen on that Common Cuckoo! I have not been able to process the shots of the cuckoo as yet. I'll hold thumbs for you...


After some investigation and deliberation it turns out that the Common Cuckoo was in fact a juv. African Cuckoo. I did however find relief from this crushing news at Punda Mania this past weekend.

Currently on 360 - Eurasian Golden Oriole (overlooked on my KNP list), Fawn-coloured Lark, Shaft-tailed Whydah and the highlight of the weekend, Pennant-winged nightjar in aerial display.
