Hi all, I have trouble to ID a few birds. The pictures were taken at Rietvlei Dam Nature Reserve. May I please post it here for help.

Have a nice weekend.

We saw these birds during a visit to Rietvlei Dam Nature Reserve in Pretoria. For others these must be common birds but we struggle to ID them. Sorry, not the best pics :cam: .

Could you please help.

and last
5. I thought this might be a female ant-eating chat.

Hi rarheeder and Welcome! (I see that you've joined long ago but have rarely posted  )

Would agree that #5 looks likely for an anteating chat.

Let's see what the fundis say!

This one has me puzzled :hmz: It looks to me like an ant-eating chat, but I saw it along Darling Hills Road, which I would have thought was out of range -- but then, birdies don't read field guides! Seen in late December 2015.

Why do you say it is out of range, Arks?

Thanks so much for the ID help, WTM. :gflower:

As for the anteating chat being out of range, it's not shown as occurring in the West Coast / Darling area on the distribution maps in either my Roberts or my Newmans field guides :hmz: It certainly looks like an AEC to me, but I'd never seen one in that area before ....
