Not really worth mentioning the increase to my paltry total, but 2 very special (for me) sightings the last week:
European Honey Buzzard (a VERY unexpected visitor to a perch in a tree in my back garden last week!) and a Peregrine Falcon in Jonkershoek late yesterday afternoon (while riding my mountain bike).
I also missed a Tern (Swift) and a starling (Meves') in my original tally.

So now at 176 and still aiming for 200 by May.
Searching for a Cape Eagle Owl....

Hi Sanpark Forumites,
I have been watching this thread for some time now and it is great to see the enthusiasm!
My wife and I have been birdwatchers since spotting our first Witliesbosbontrokkie using the StClaires? field guide in the KNP in 1986. We started marking our sightings in our books and we are now on our 6th book. So the other day we decided to add them up and we are in the vicinity of 550-560, with some auditing to follow.
So as soon as we have an audited total, we will post it here. Our aim is to reach 600 by the end of 2014.
Happy birding!
PS. Where can we get reliable info on where to spot Flufftails and Honeyguides?
2010 - Blessed with six opportunities - Marakele, Kgalagadi, Kruger, Augrabies, Richtersveld, Karoo
2011 - Karoo, Mokala, Namakwa Nat Park
2012 - KNP, Gonarezhou
2013 - KNP, Marakele, Moremi
2014 - Sadly no SANParks, Moz & CKGR

Boomerang, there is no such thing as a reliable flufftail

Possibly the scarcest one is the most reliable, but it probably will be a few years before another White-wing day is organised again. There was a three year gap between saturdays one and the previous one.
