Thanks for your responses. We certainly will self-drive around the park but will also avail of either an evening or night drive, too.
What is the hiking like in the Zuurberg (day hike)?
One other question - a bit off the topic I started but hopefully ok:
- we will need to drive to the Port Elizabeth airport on the morning of July 15, for a 9:30AM flight to CT; how long is the drive, and when should we leave, considering the departure time and we have to drop off our rental?
MINIMUM time to leave for PE 07 h 00
Addo HR 874
Moonglum, last month we had to do a similar thing... we left Addo an hour and a half before we needed to book in for the flight. We did not have a rental to drop off, but that usually only takes a few minutes...unless you paying for it at drop off? PE airport is not the busiest in Africa .... so I'd suggest that you allow a minimum of 2 and half hours between leaving Addo and your flight takes off. You may leave the camp area before the gates open as there is a 24 guard at the gate.
We have just returned from a ranger guided 2 day walk in Kruger and thoroughly enjoyed the experience of being in the bush with the animals. Only problem is that it is one heck of a long way from PE. We were wondering if there are any similar hikes in the local parks like Addo or Mountain Zebra?
