Addo: Braai Facility

Unread post by Aristocat » Fri Apr 13, 2012 8:05 pm

Hi there

We will be spending 2 nights in Addo in July and can't seem to see on website if there is a braai facility on the Cottage's deck?? Can anyone advise? We have previously stayed in a semi-detached chalet with a lovely verandah with braai area and would love to be able to braai when staying in our cottage.

I was about to say "Of course it has, it is in South Africa!" but...I can indeed not find any reference to a braai?

Hi

Megan will confirm next week I am sure; but I do think they have Webers on the deck for you to use to braai on.

Thanks for the replies. We couldn't see any facilities but will wait to hear?

What do you mean by a local cottage? Is that the Rondawel? Unfortunately no availability there?

The cottages at the main camp do not have the braais on the deck. They are in front of the cottage near the front door. The cottages at Matyholweni have the braai on the deck.

Hi Aristocat and everyone,
All the accommodation units and camping/caravan sites in Addo Elephant National Park have a braai unit at each unit - so it doesn't matter which type you book, you'll always be assured of being able to light your fire :D
The only units which actually have braai units right on their decks are the cottages at Matyholweni, as gregdeklerk pointed out. The rest of the units have their braai units in front of or next to the unit.

Thank you so much!!

that is great news!! Does not matter to us whether it is on the deck or in front of it as long as we can light a fire and soak up the stars!! We are looking forward to our visit!!

Not having braai facilities in SANP is like no beer in a pub.

Not gonna happen.
Whatever (according to BB): "You are correct but I don't want to admit it".
