Addo: Hopon Guides

Unread post by Mustbcrackers » Thu Oct 11, 2007 9:24 pm

Hello all

We are staying at Addo for an overnight on 10 November and want to have a Hopon guide for tours on the evening of the 10th and the morning of the 11th.

As all the accommodation is full I assume it will be quite busy and so am wondering whether it is possible to book hopon guides now rather than leaving it till we arrive.

Can anyone advise me about the availability of hopon guides and whether it is possible to book ahead?

Hi Harry! According to the Addo activities page:

Guides can be hired at affordable rates to get on your vehicle and guide you through the game area. These are local community members who have been trained as guides and now run their own small business. Hop-on guides can be booked by E-mail.

If you go to the actual Addo activities page then the word "Email" is a link you can click on - and I assume it'll launch your mail client and let you email your booking. 8)

Hi Harry
You can email to make a hop-on guide booking.
Once you have made the booking, you pick the guide up at the entrance gate and pay the guide directly. They charge per car fr a two hour drive and operate between 08h00 and 17h00.

When to get a guide?

Unread post by rich057 » Tue Feb 05, 2008 6:20 pm

We're staying out in Kirkwood and I'm wondering what the best time of the day is to book a guide? I'm assuming that getting a guide at the start of the day is better and then you can explore yourself?

Also, is there any choosing of particular guides? If so, are there any that people would particularly recommend to show us birds and mammals in the park?

Any suggestions would be much appreciated.
