Canoeing in Bontebok Park

Unread post by NicoleCT » Tue Mar 12, 2013 1:43 pm

Hi

I have never been to Bontebok Park. I understand it is situated on the Breede River. Can one bring own canoes and actually canoe/kayak on the river ? Or is the river too low around the camp ?

Some photos indicate there might only be one deep river pool for swimming and the rest of the river quite low. We have inflatable canoes and I am worried about damaging the canoe if the river is too low or has lots of boulders etc.

Can anyone give more info ?

Thanks

Ja/nee.

Ja, it is possible, but nee it is not practical.

There are sometimes underwater trees that get brought down when the river is in flood.

Enjoy swimming in the pool rather.

And walk along the trails. The birding is good.
Whatever (according to BB): "You are correct but I don't want to admit it".

If you want to do a Canoeing Trip I would highly Recomment either Augrabies (Kalahari Outvntures) or Richtersveld. But to avoid Disaapointments, Richtersveld used Crocks no Canoes, but it was great either. Crock Boats are made from Rubber (right word???), not plastik or wood... .

I really enjoyed the Rapids... . which were always great fun.
life is Game, you rather play or flee. I chose to play the Game.
