West Coast NP - water sports

Unread post by runu » Wed Feb 04, 2015 2:18 pm

Hi there,

Does any one know specifically what water sports are allowed at the West Coast National Park lagoon (church haven)? I have seen boats in the lagoon, but I was wondering if Jet Skis are allowed?

Also, where is the best place to launch? Langebaan?

Thanks

Thanks - does it usually take this long? I'm visiting the park this Wednesday and need to know before then.

:yaya: Hi Runu and welcome to a fantastic Forum. :thumbs_up:

Following, the three Zones in the Park.
Zone A: multi-functional section for most water sports.
Zone B: reserved for sailboats and board sailing (no power boats or angling).
Zone C: wilderness area, which is closed to the public.

Jet Ski's are only allowed in the Langebaan area, where you will find a place to launch, and not in the above Zones.

Hope this will help you. :)

Dear Runu;

Currently jet skis are not allowed to operate in the lagoon but there are however restricted areas where they are allowed in conjunction with specific guidelines and instructions.

You are welcome to contact WCNP directly should you require additional information.

The guidelines are summarised on the boat permit guidelines paragraph 6.
