Karbonkelberg track in TMNP

Unread post by caroline V » Mon Aug 31, 2009 8:54 am

On Sunday we walked the track up the Karbonkelberg from Hout Bay and were shocked to see how very eroded it was. SANParks needs to close it and rehabilitate it before it gets worse. I walked it about 3 months ago and it was nothing like it is now. At one stage there is a canyon about 3 metres deep.

It seems to have been eroding for quite a while though... :x
Maybe it needs more protection. Karbonkelberg is one of the only places where you can see the rare spider orchid in the TMNP

And the other vegetation is spectacular
