Urikaruus check in.

Unread post by Peregrine Falcon » Mon Oct 14, 2013 8:36 pm

Hi all,a quick question that I am sure will be answered quickly.
Do you still have to check in at Twee Rivieren for your stay at Urikaruus? As we are coming from Grootkolk this would be quite a long day.

Many thanks. PF.

I normally only check in at entrance gate and then go directly to wilderness camp. As long as you have done this you do not have to go back to 2R. You can always confirm when you enter or at Nossob on the way.

If you have done the check in at the Entrance Gate Office you don't need to check in again at TR after your stay at GK.

Only if you've entered before the office has opened that you'll need to check in at either Nossob or Mata Mata for the different wilderness Camps. Those are the only places they can collect the Conservation Fee.

I've been in Urikaruus last January, and made check in directly in Urikaruus without passing in Twee Rivieren or Nossob.
Enjoy this incredible place.

Luca

It is a misnomer that you need to check into one of the big camps before you go to the wilderness camps. I know that is how it seems to have been explained on the SANparks website. However, we just got back last night from out trip and stayed at 4 of the wilderness camps and went from one to the other. All you do is ensure when you sign in at TR you show the full itinerary. When you leave one camp they will know where you are going to for the next camp and will just enter the details into your permit. You hand in that permit when you arrive at your destination camp.

I hope this explains but p, me if you need more info.

Urikaarus Check-In

Unread post by krausimausi » Tue Feb 18, 2014 9:17 pm

Hi,

we could need some advise.
We would like to stay 2 nights in Urikaarus. I read now, that check-in is in Mata Mata and Twee Rivieren.
As we are coming from Polentswa we could only check-in in Nossob.
Do you know, if we can go to Urikaarus without check-in and check-in after the first night, because than we will drive to Mata Mata and back again to Urikaarus?
Sanparks didn't help - they told me I can only check-in in Twee Rivieren, because we will get the keys only there.
Can somebody help?

Bye,
Marion

Hi Marion,

No keys that you'll need to get in TR. The wilderness camp attendants have the keys to the units in their camps.

I'm sure you should be able to book in ( the normal get your permit and conservation fees procedures) at Nossob.

I'll try and get some clarification on this tomorrow.

Hi Marion,

Just something else........will you be entering Kgalagadi from the Botswana side?? And where will you be exiting?? If you are not entering and exiting via the same country, you'll need to do the customs at TR.

Hi lion queen,

we will enter the Park at Mabuasehube Gate and we are planning to exit at Kaa Gate.
So we don't have to do the customs.
But thanks for asking.

Bye,
Marion

Krausimausi, I've been two times in Urikaruus. You can go directly there without check in in Mata Mata, Nossob or Twee Rivieren. You just need the printed confirmation letter to show to Eric, the Urikaruus manager. Enjoy Urikaruus, from my point of view is the best camp of the park.

Hi Krausimausi,

Sorry to be the bearer of not so good news.

You can't just go directly to Urikarus. You will have to book in at Nossob to obtain your permit and pay the conservation fees.

Enjoy the trip.....

Hi lion queen,

don't worry - check-in in Nossob is also good news, as Nossob is on our way.
We will stop there for petrol anyway.
(We always pay the conservation fee in advance with the camp reservation, if we don't buy a wild card!).

Bye,
Krausimausi
