Namaqua flower season 2016

Unread post by penolva » Thu Jun 09, 2016 6:53 pm

Hi all we have three nights at the Skilpad chalets on 8/9/10 September  . I read that the area must have good rain in June for the flowers to bloom. So far this month no rain :? Do I start to panic yet? Pen

Pen,
September is usually on the late side for flowers, so the rain predicted tonight and this week, could be the catalyst...
Hope it works!
God bless,

I have organized a mountain cycling tour for 14 mostly 60+ year olds (a few younger) to cycle through the flowers. We will be arriving in Springbok and I would love to find a "flower guide" for a couple of hours on 2 or 3 Sept to go into Goegap. Or on 3, 4 (or 5 if its all I ca get) Sept in Skilpad. Can anyone help me with this request.

PS - did you get the rain as mentioned.??

Hi Delia,

What a great initiative. I hope it is a great success.

Unfortunately the park, Namaqua National Park, cannot provide a guide for a tour through Goegap Nature Reserve as we are two different entities. You can contact Elanza van Lente at Namaqua National Park to assist with a guide for the tour at Skilpad. 027 672 1948

Regards,
Nadia
