Nossob chalets numbers

Unread post by chouboule » Sun Feb 28, 2016 10:52 pm

Need help again: suposedly the best chalets in Nossob are no 7 and 11 but how does that relate to the CH2, CH3, CH4, and CH6 chalets that you are actually reserving.
What is where?

Hi chouboule

If I remember correctly, chalet 11 is divided into 11 a and 11 b - they are the guest houses ie GH4 and GH2/4. Chalet 7 could be a CH3Z but I stand to be corrected on that one. Hope that helps

Thanks everyone,
We called at Sanparks at 6h25 our time or 7h25 am ZA time this morning and managed to get 2 nights at KieleKrankie (instead of Urikaruus which was already fully booked) and 2 nights at Nossob in a CH4, so the trip is starting to shape up. Then we just have to wait another month to be able to book the rest hopefully getting a few nights in Urikaruuus on the way down. We're hoping that the new riverside chalets will be finished in Nossob and that we'll be able to switch to one of them.
But the main thing is that we're finally coming to the Kalahari (in 11 months).
Greetings to all from Switzerland

The guy at Nossob told me the new chalets are not going to be finished until next year. They are working VERY SLOWLY. When we drove through a couple of times this Feb there were just piles of bricks with people sitting on them  :wall: they will get them finished eventually! The new units at UK and KK look very nice and the experiment with electric fridge freezers in some of the wilderness camps seems to be going well. Having one in our unit at GK was great. Pen

Thanks Nadia.

Just to confirm (not on the list) FA6 (the Family Cottage) is then number 8 - sort of in the middle of the camp straight up as you enter. I have stayed there before.

However, I now have a reservation for the CH6. So per your feedback that is 10A on the map. I haven't stayed there before. On the map, it looks to be in the vicinity of where they are building the new units now (to the left of the hide, looking towards the hide) Is that correct or where is the CH6 situated in relation to the new units. And has a forumite perhaps stayed in the CH6 in recent times while the building was in progress? Any feedback would be welcome.

Hi Obelix,

We stayed in 10C (Type CH2) in May this year. 10C and B looks directly onto the new construction but the construction area is fenced off, you can't really see anything. 10A looks more towards the hide with the construction more to the left but also a little in front of you. Again, it's fenced off. You do hear the construction of course but I think under the circumstances it's not too bad. Everything considered 10C is quite nice and being close to the hide is a bonus.

Hi. I have 10b (CH3, construction view) booked for August but the 6 and 7 Z chalets have become available. Should I swop? Thanks.

Dear kimanjome,

To be quite frank, your choice of accommodation will only be applicable if you stay in camp during the day  .
My motto is that I visit the park to experience the environment outside the camps, not somebody who spent much of my valuable time in the camp during the day :D .
We also stayed in 10b during our last visit and it is quite close to the hide and shop  .

Why, then, do so many visitors make such a big deal over which chalet / tent site / cottage they are in?
