Hi everyone,

So I wondered who of you are familiar with the story of the Prince of Nossob? This is the young lion that, together with his mother, came across Langklaas the leopard when she sadly died next to the Nossob waterhole. It's fitting that such a famous leopard shared such a famous camera moment with a baby lion that it seems will also become famous. The little cub in the photo below is now known as Prince or, as out sunset drive guide (think his name was Des, forgive me if I got it wrong!!)described him, "the Prince of Nossob".
His father rules the area round Nossob with an iron fist (claw) and has apparently already killed at least 3 other full grown males that have entered his domain. Prince got kicked out of the pride when he got older, as is customary, but what was strange is that his mother left with him. This might be because she was old and he was her last cub....the only cub from her last litter that survived. Whatever the reason they are now inseparable and often seen around Nossob. The feeling is that he has got amazing genes (due to his aggressive and powerful father) and that he might even take over in the future.

Below is a few photos of the Prince of Nossob and his mother near 'Marie se Gat'. They saw some Gemsbok at the waterhole but decided to let them be....and actually waited until they finished drinking!!

Enjoy.

Me again....I can't seem to edit the writing at the bottom of each photo so let me just correct myself....I meant to say "..he's going to become a big boy" and also the right eye...not the left :wall:
