Dear Nimrod,

I don't think that this will be possible, because it does not form part of their job description.

Fellow campers normally help if need be  .

BarryEls, do you know if the card machines at Nossob and Mata Mata are operational yet? Going there next week and wondering if I should be taking a big wad of cash for fuel and fresh bread. Going for a week and bit, so may need to plan carefully around cash...

I don't have recent experience but. when we were there in May 2015, we used South African garage card for fuel. The shops only took cash.

Remember the remoteness - signal can be down, so take some cash. However one time at Nossob signal was down and they just wrote it down to put through later!

Dear funguye,

There are currently only card facilities available in the shops at Twee Rivieren. The park is still struggling to get Telkom lines live and ready at Nossob and Mata Mata.

I personally don't use my card for fuel, however reading comments of hippotragus there are card facilities for fuel.

I suggest that you have some cash available for your trip next week.

Enjoy the trip and remember to give us feedback through a trip report on the forums when you are back home  .

Thanks for the responses. We reckoned that we'll just have cash anyway.

And thanks to everyone posting here for the info. I've been there, but 10+ years ago, so I am super excited. From this forum I was able to get to know the animals already, where they've been spotted and even their names to ID them. It's going to be an amazing 2 weeks there. I hope I get to spot the animals and birds on my list and I really hope I get to make some plaster moulds of leopard and lion tracks!

i know from my last trip 2 years ago that I was able to use my debit card for fuel at all 3 fuels stations in the park.

I didn't try using the card in the shops.

Is it still the case on being able to use cards for fuel?

:D
You Lucky ones to go the Kgalagadi after the rains!
We were there the 2nd week in January, when it was still very dry.
We always use a Petrol card or a Credit Card at Nossob, TweeRivieren and Mata-Mata.
No Problems at all.
There is a small ATM in the shop at TweeRivieren as well
Enjoy your Trip!

My suggestion would be to read through the topics under the heading "Topics on weather in KTP" that you will find in the index Here. This will give you an idea what the weather and temperatures are in KTP during the year  .

Enjoy the planning :D .
