Although I did not see any report of rain in KTP thus far Bushbuddies, I would suggest you keep an eye on the 7 day forecast Here :hmz: .

We were in the park last week and no rain, 2 days some clouds, but not even one drop.

And this week in Upington we had lovely clouds late Tuesday afternoon but no rain. :( :(

The park is bone dry!! Really praying that we receive some rain soon.

Thank you Lion Queen! I was hoping you would spot my question here. I hope we will bring some rain with when we come tomorrow. Would love to be there and see the transformation! :D (And hopefully to cool things down a bit! )

My brother and I will be arriving in the park on Dec. 29 from the US via Windhoek. Unless we are able to get Rand in Namibia, which may be possible, we'll need to get cash in the park. This is my third trip to KTP and in the past I've been able to get cash at the shop in TR. Is that service still available? I'm aware that credit cards are accepted for fuel and bookings such as game drives, but I'm not certain whether cards are accepted in all of the shops. Plus, its much easier to use cash for lots of transactions.

Thanks in advance.

Marc

MarcSF,

I did send a request through to SANParks PR for the latest information and will reply here as soon as an answer is received  .

You will easily get ZAR cash at the airport in Windoek.

Dear MarcSF,

According to SANParks management at Twee Rivieren there is no facilities to exchange foreign currency into Rand anymore.

Credit card payments are only allowed at Twee Rivieren camp.

Only cash is accepted at the shops at Mata Mata and Nossob.

Although the park is in the process of installing credit card machines at Mata Mata and Nossob, it will not be operational for some time due to Telkom connection issues.

It seems that the best will be to do the exchange at Windhoek airport as Katanga suggested.

Which camps

Unread post by Bentony1 » Tue Jan 19, 2016 11:37 am

Hi guys, we have not been active on this forum for a while. It looks like we can get away in April to KFP and I was wondering about staying at a camp we have not yet been to. What are the opinions on Kielie Krankie or Ukaruus? We love KTC and Nossob, but I am not keen on Grootkolk due to the outside kitchen facilities and the bee issue. What is everyones view on this?

All the camps are fantastic. Your problem will be if you can get into any. If you see any openings I should grab them at once.

Hi Bentony1,

Welcome back to the forums  .

I had a quick look at the availability of bookings in the camps you mentioned and there are no chalets available at Kieliekrankie, Urikaruus or Nossob. There are still availability at KTC. To check for availability use the website link Here and go to the bottom of the page and complete the "Find Accommodation" portion.

There is also an existing topic Kgalagadi: Best camps that you can read through.

There is a possibility that we will travel from Namibia through the Kgalagadi to RSA during February.
I would appreciate it very much to hear from people that have recently visited the Kgalagadi about the condition of the roads, especially after the rains.
It seems like a wonderful opportunity to visit Kgalagadi even if it is only for 3 days!! :D :D :D

Staff Help with pitching up a tent

Unread post by Nimrod » Sat Feb 06, 2016 10:21 pm

Hi

My wife and I and our 4 month old (6 weeks now) are gonna camp in Nossob for 6 nights in april. We have a safari bow canvas tent but are thinking of buying the extension called bush combo snr which is very big.

Ive never asked this at any place before, but will the staff be able to assist in pitching up our tent? Is it rude to ask? Will ofcourse tip.
