Very nice! Hope we will be able to get accommodation at Kieliekrankie in future (old or new, doesn't matter). Thanks for the photos NadiaL and for posting DinkyBird!

It looks like a huge improvement compared to the old semi-canvas units. We have spent the last two nights of our 13 day visit to KTP in Kieliekrankie in 2007. Unfortunately we drew the short straw regarding the weather during that two nights (in May). It was extremely windy and very cold and we could not close up every opening.

Going there in May!!!

....Stoffel, do you think the bad weather you had was a once off or is May generally quite windy?

thanks

We had great weather for the first 10 nights. It started changing while in Urikaruus and the last 2 in Kieliekrankie was (unfortunately) really miserable.

The month of May is the start of winter in South Africa. The southern part of South Africa gets winter rain that comes with cold fronts from the very far south (Antarctica). These cold fronts can sometimes cause extremely cold weather over other parts of South Africa if they are really strong fronts. And this is what happened during our stay in Kgalagadi - namely no rain, but extremely cold and windy weather. This is more common during the period June - August, but can happen in May already.

I trust you will experience good weather during your visit.

Has the new unit been placed into the reservation system? If not is anyone aware what the time line is for that to occur?

Thanks
