This is an excerpt from our Travel tale, "Wannabe Larnies in the KTP, Dec 2014"
We saw Warona at Kamfersboom at about 6.30am on 4 January 2015:

We had travelled no more than a few hundred meters when Debbie spotted some movement up on the calcrete ridges on the far side of the riverbed.

A Leopard!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Warona

Image

She slowly walked along the ridge and down into the riverbed

(Sorry for all the pics, but I DO love leopards!!)

We were ecstatic, and although we were looking straight into the rising sun, we didn’t care.

Image

We took a few proof pics, and we were convinced that she was definitely headed for the waterhole, so we turned around all ready for a super sighting of her.

Image

However, all of a sudden she noticed the jackals up on the hill on the far side of the valley, and immediately turned and headed up to them.

Image

She chased the jackals away and then disappeared into the dunes.
We waited, went forwards then backwards looking for her, and waited some more in the hope that she would come and drink, but she never did.
No matter, we had had a great, albeit brief sighting of the lovely lady.

From our August 2014 TR

Under TRAVEL TALES

August 2014 short trip to Kgalagadi

It is still 19 August, our last full day in Kgalagadi, and we were two km north of Montrose on our way back to Twee Rivieren. I just said it seems that this trip will be without any Leopard sightings when I sighted a Leopard on the far side of the river bed.

The Leopard was eating leftovers of a big bird. It was just past 16h00 and we did not see a car for a while. I was just ready to take my first photo when a big truck came from Mata Mata and I had to make way for it. Luckily the driver did not see the Leopard and drove on.

Image

She cleaned her face.
Image

Marked the tree.
Image

Then came straight for us.
Image

Image

Image

It was Miera.
Image

Image

She just came closer and closer to us.
Image

Image

And then crossed the road in front of us.
Image

Image

And disappeared over the ridge.
