Also going to be in the KTP at the end of October so I very much hope they are out of the den by then if it was a successful pairing.

:D

Will also have some form of yellow ribbon flying.

I am really looking forward to this trip.

We spent 9 days in the park (at the new Ta Shebube Rooiputs and Polentswa lodges) and had only one leopard sighting but it was most enjoyable. We arrived at Leijersdraai waterhole at 08h00 last week Tuesday and found Safran and her cub, Tebogo, drinking.

Image

We last saw them November 2012 when her cub was very small and s/he did not come down out of the tree at the waterhole, only Safran drank. This time we were able to spend 20 minutes with them as they interacted in the open in wonderful early morning lighting!

Image

Not one other vehicle was there - sad in a way but also a relief as so many times the speedsters come racing into a sighting or waterhole and chase the subjects away.

Wonderful sighting fazekma
It's great to know that Tebogo has made it through the year and is looking very healthy.
Lets hope he/she will continue to entertain people at Lijersdraai.

This great image taken between TR and Mata was posted on ODP. I don't know the photographer but maybe you can ID the Leo and update the records from the EXIF info.

Enjoy!

Thanks for the link IainP
The leopard is Miera.
That is an impressive kill...i'm guessing she is scavenging from a lion kill....but would be great to try and get the story.

So I have another exciting update.
It seems like all of last years cubs are coming out of the wood work. Warona the Auchterlonie females cub from December 2012 (http://www.sanparks.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=38&t=18567&start=720) has been seen recently with her mum at the Lower dune road turn off in the Aoub.
They were seen by Sean O'Hagen on the 6th August 2013 and we have him to thank for these great pictures.
