We also love them Trrrrp. Francolins, Woody's and guinea fowls are, for me, such iconic Kruger sounds.

We have a few Francolins that live in the gardens of the estate that we live in and when I hear them call I just close my eyes and imagine I am in the bush :D

Wish we could put you in our pockets and take you to Kruger so you can hear them for yourself.

Tessa you are so fortunate to have guinea fowl nearby.

Definitely a sound I would like to wake up to Trrp.

I know they are everywhere in the Park but they are prolific in the Balule area. One day, just past Bangu waterhole I had to travel at the speed of guinea fowl because they refused to get off the road. The road here is rather narrow and instead of them flying off or jumping into the bush, they tottered down the road, like only guinea fowl can do for about four kilometers. I can’t repeat what I said here but to this day I smile at the memories.

There is a road in Kruger that in my opinion is the best road in the park. I have only been on it twice. The first time I had a wonderful sighting of a leopard and her cub. On my last trip this road had to be cut short because of an emergency. I will definitely do it again.

How interesting Mizzbee. That is exactly the road we will be travelling after entering through Phalaborwa Gate on our way to Shingwedzi, via a lunch stop at Mopani.

I recognise the spot in your photo and I can see an ellie down there. :D

I must be honest, but we have never been very lucky on that stretch of road, but then maybe it is because once we get there we have been travelling 6 hrs from JHB already, after leaving about 4am and are probably a bit weary. This time we will have our eyes peeled!! Do you remember where along the H14 it was that you saw the leopard?

Tessa and Carol, if you do travel on this road don’t ignore the loop to the river. This stretch is unbelievable and indescribable. I could have stayed here for hours.

Tessa, the leopard and cub were close to where the Ngwenyeni river meets the H14, near Ndanzana waterhole. 16kms into the H14 from Phalaborwa.

Thanks Mizzee, I know exactly where you mean and have made a note on our map to remind us to keep our 'peepers' well and truly open. Maybe we will be lucky :D

Bless you, Trrrrrp, we just cant wait and I can feel Shingwedzi through that photo of yours. Give me a wish list of sightings and I will do my best to 'bring' them back for you in photo form

I keep thinking of MM and wondering where she is right now and what she has seen. I am so interested to hear of her Shipandene Hide experience. I am so tempted, but something about spiders and creepy crawlies that come out at night is stopping me  :naughty:

Trrp, your :cam: says it all about Shingwidzi  . Not a leaf out of place. I sometimes feel for those gardeners.

Tessa, I don’t know if you will need your mobile, but the cell coverage at Shingwedzi is very patchy and unstable at best.

Today, rather than watch the webcams, I am going to sit on one of the benches under this tree and watch it for ‘real’

Aaaah Mizzbee that super pic says it all....*sigh* see it is a bit damp there this morning, they have had a bit or rain. but the views, ever watching and waiting to see who arrives for a drink...stays perfect. :D

We are also close enough today to spoil ourselves with drinks and eats here too.

Thanks Mizzbee and Trrrrrp for those two beautiful views. That is a magnificent tree and just begs you to come and sit underneath and watch.

I will take a few photos with my cell phone and if Trrrrp would like  , I can send them when we get to a bigger camp

 Look at his eyes, he is begging so nicely....'Please save some for me'

That look in his eyes reminds me of my Rottie who would sit so patiently and wait for a morsel with just that same look.
