I love fabric painting and most of my work end up as scatter cushions, tablecloths, aprons, shopping bags and I've also done quite a few for framing.

Wonderful pieces of art here!

Is there an extra topic for quilts? If yes, I didn`t find it...

Anyway, here`s an African quilt from my mother - thought I post it here.

Did'nt want to post this pic because the photo I took of the painting is a bit blurred but here goes. I did the painting last year after a trip to Lower Sabie.

Wonderfull Gitane and Tigs! - can't wait to see those paintings. Its startling how much time goes into a painting - particularly ones that are very realitic. I work in oils, but Tigs now you have me experimenting with acrylics to see if its a bit quicker than oils (oils take so long to dry for the second or even third layer). However I think for starters I ll do a basis with acrylics and then go over to the oils. At the moment I'm stuck with some streetscapes I need to do - can't wait o get back to nature scenes.

Recenly did this one for an exhibition

Hi Nico, no, the painting is done in acrylics. I do not have the courage to try oils yet!
Hi Tigs, so you have to take one big step than. When you paint with oilpaint, you never paint with other medium again. Oil paint is absolutely great to work with.

That is true lockie, I see my paintings like my children. I put a lot of feelings and emotion in my work but when it is finished, I have to sell it and I hope the new owners will take care of my [painting] child.

This is one of my favourite paintings, the Yellow billed Kite

I know what you mean Tigs, it gives a special feeling as a painter to work with your emotions into a painting.

Like this painting i made about two youngsters playing. That is creating a painting out of emotion.

Hi All,

Thankyou for all the good comments. I enjoyed making all of them. Being out in the field is enough for me to want to grab my brushes and paint.

Painter, I hope you feel better and that you will enjoy your painting. I hope you've seen enough to make a lot of paintings.

Tigs, love your eagle. It looks if you can pull your fingers through his feathers (I wont try it in real life, I don't want to miss a finger).

Some more of my work done a while ago.

The first one is of ellies leaving the Sabledam.

Image

The next one is of Boababs up North. I changed the landscape a bit. (Got carried away.)

Image

the last one is of Tsitsikama. I have loads of stunning pics of that area that I Would like to try out.

See you guys later.
