We started off on a drive up to the 'Big Tree' above The Wilderness.

A look down at the camp with our chalet on the Serpentine

The 'Big Tree' is within a Sanparks forest

I seriously wanted to go paddling up the creek.....

SO was not keen... I think she had visions of going around in circles or rolling over....

I assured her that I could handle a canoe...having done so when a boy scout...some 40 years ago
she was not happy...

But we went...paddling up the creek... and back against the wind and tide ....good fun..and enjoyed after all (other than a few drops of water from the paddles)

Had a glimpse of a red winged bird....

In the evening we had bats squeaking and crawling out of the unit and flying off....no bother...

We did not do any of the many walking trails in the area (other than to the tree), bird hides etc...maybe next time....

The visiting shrike

Beautiful flowers in Bontebok - amazing how quickly the scenery changes within a month or so.

Thanks to your grey rhebuck photos, I now have an idea what we probably saw
fleeing from us in Mountain Zebra...

And your black shouldered kite is just that!
Summer 2014 - Oz! It was awesome!

A casual drive from Wilderness to Addo, with a couple of stops.

Shopping at Colchester, then on to the Southern gate.

Then we checked in to Matyholweni for 4 nights.

Simple and comfortable layout.

Tv welcome for SO's soapies :D :wall: :wall:

Only negative...the bar fridge. Tiny freezer compartment, not enough place for freezer blocks and meat.
My box of easter eggs filled the fridge. The fridge bottle of water had to be removed...
Bad decorating decision :wall: :wall: :wall:

The view from the deck was tree top....only flowers and birds visible....and something else on the last day

There were ellies every where, around Harpoor dam. There must have been at least a hundred. A quick count ended in the seventies.....
