Reading this whole thread, I looked at my mammal books and found one published in 1966 which said that Aardwolves are found in Kruger. Incidentally it also mentioned brown hyaenas as being found in Kruger too. Conditions may have changed enough that the populations which were around 50 years ago are no longer there or no longer so large, and therefore not so likely to be easily seen, especially as both of these are night/crepuscular creatures.
