Zebra, Cape Mountain

Unread post by wildtuinman » Thu Oct 29, 2015 10:02 am

Apologies if this is a duplicate post. I could not find the Cape Mountain Zebra in the index page.

In South Africa you will encounter two species of Zebra. Burchell's or Plains Zebra and Mountain Zebra. Personally the latter is my favorite.
Plains Zebra is by far the more common species and favors savannah whereas the Mountain Zebra, flirting with extinction in the 1930's and 1940's is much more rarer in its mountainous Karoo habitat.
The Mountain Zebra is easily identifiable by its more narrow and tighter striping and white stomach

Latest Lifer(s): Burchell's Courser, Cory's Shearwater, Wilson's Storm-Petrel, European Storm-Petrel, Great Winged Petrel, Grey Waxbill, Cape Rock-jumper
