Some things stayed the same... others have changed somewhat (the bus and fashion trend, it seems). Tx for sharing, STF.

Ah those buses I remember them well They were the ulimate in luxury in those days .. !!!! I was about 15 and my father who worked for the railways came to fetch me . They needed some people to fill a bus as they were taking photos for advertising etc. They had professional peeps in the main seats . Well when the photos came out It was me they used .. and for years it was a huge blown up photo in the JHB main station and also for several years in the readers digest ..My moment of fame and I was not paid a penny .. hmmph The photo said something about game drives .. and the outside scenery of the "game Park "as very convincing Emmerentia dam really looked like a waterhole in the park .
STF do keep up those photos.

Elzet and Jungle Junkie - I am so pleased you are enjoying these old postcards.

Hugh - That must have been a very interesting time for you. I do have a postcard of a S.A.R. motor coach parked at Emmarentia Dam but only with adults standing next to it.

Here are the next two:

This postcard was published by Perskor and the photo was taken by Ria Liebenberg.

TITLE: On tour with Sartravel.

I'm really enjoying this thread. Discovered a few postcards my mom sent to my grandmother in l955. Will try to scan them in tonight (with or without messages?)

The postcard of Satara gate was much more modern than the other photos if you look at the bus ..

Interesting to see busses of the past in Kruger. I did not know that even then they circled in Kruger. I always get quite shocked when I see a bus in Kruger :wall:
