Buying Wildcard using credit from SanParks

Unread post by greatlyblessed » Tue Aug 18, 2015 5:06 am

Hi ,
I am planning on getting an International Wildcard for my family, and I have credit with SanParks, as changed accommodation that had already been paid for. Was wondering if there is a way of using that credit to buy the wildcard rather then having to get a refund?

If I can't use the credit, can I buy the card at either Numbi or Malelane gates ? Is this a long process? Are we better off doing online anyway?

Thank you

I think you will need to get in contact with Finance at SANParks. I'll try to get an address for you.

Yes you can buy a Wildcard in Kruger. If you are staying in the park, the gate staff will direct you to buy it at the camp reception when you check in for your first night. You will not be given a physical card, you will get a receipt that you need to keep. If you give an email address you should also get an email. You then need to go on-line and fill in your details so the physical card can be sent. Please do this, it saves a lot of complications later as once you are in the system you will not be issued with a new membership number or a new card.

In light of this I tend to recommend buying your card on-line a couple of days before you leave. This is so that your details are recorded and you can print off the email that shows that you have paid. I would suggest printing off a few copies in case one gets lost or perhaps laminate a copy. Its easier than trying to keep a smallish receipt safe.

Hope you enjoy your trip.

Hi all,

Are there any new experiences with this topic?
We already have a wildcard, however it has expired last year so we'll need to renew it for our next trip to Kruger in April. First wildcard was purchased online in 2015. Now as we also had to re-arrange our itinerary few times we also have a credit on our sanparks client account. So instead of paying the wildcard with credit card and asking for a refund of the credit on our sanparks account we'd prefer to pay the wildcard with that credit.
Can anaybody tell us if that is possible and what we'd have to do?
Thx a lot in advance!!!

Welcome to the forums at4chho2.

I suspect that it will not be possible to use that credit, because accommodation and Wild Card are separate departments, but I will certainly ask for you, and you never know!!!

Maybe someone else has had the same experience, and will advise you?

If you cannot use your credit to renew your card, you could maybe use it to do some game drives while in the park?

As you probably know, if your card was purchased in 2015, you just need to re activate that same card, by renewing your subscription, either online or at your first gate/camp.

That card is your's for life, unless you lose or deface it, then you can obtain a new one for R100 (currently)

I will get back to you, and hoping that you nhave a wonderful trip.

Hi Crested Val,

thanks a lot for your feedback and much more for further researching in this topic.
Yes, we know that this a 'wildcard for life' and that we only need to renew the membership instead of buying a new card.
Looking forward to hear from you again!
Have a wonderful Sunday and best greetings from a slightly 'springish' Germany!!
