Kanniedood bird hide

Possibly I should be in the GoS for this! I was outside my car and only feet from this elephant. But where was I?

Bird hide at kanniedood dam

Unread post by etienne1 » Mon May 13, 2013 11:29 am

We will be going to Shingwedzi in august and was wondering if the bird hide is still there after the floods and will it be rebuilt by the time we go. It is the highlight of our trip to that area , we were fortunate to be surprised by a herd of elephants while we were in the hide . A memorable occasion .

Dear Etienne

Please note that the bird hide is still standing. It was not washed out by the floods, however; roads leading to the hide still needs to be cleaned up. At the moment our technical team and contractors are still busy with cleaning and rebuilding structures at the camp, we hope that by the time you arrive in August everything will be back to normal. Please visit our website for latest KNP Floods update.

Glad to hear that hide is still standing, great views and have had some phenominal sightings there including a white impala.
Thank you for the info Stephens :D
