Unread postby Lizet Grobbelaar » Fri Jun 26, 2009 12:08 pm

Grey Waxbill Estrilda thomensis
Habitat: In South Africa we found them mostly in the coastal thickets of Kwazulu Natal and the Sand forest at the Mkhuze Game Reserve. They also like the lowland evergreen forest.
Upper parts are grey with black lores extending behind the eye.
Upper tail is the same dark grey as the upper parts, and under tail coverts blackish.
Rump is a crimson red.
Flanks are grey.
Bill is a black/darkgrey.
