Hi all! Sorted out my bird photos for the first time and was surprised to find 200 species hidden away in my laptop. Anyway, 2 nightjars that I saw last February in Kruger pose a bit of an ID problem. Any ideas?

JoelR,

Hmm, bit of a challenge with those

Fiery-necked for the second one? (pure guesses here).

Hi Joel.. why couldn't you rather post Warblers?

Second one I get the feeling of European Nightjar. :hmz:

I saw this nightjar in April at Pafuri. So from the way it roosts it can only be an European nightjar, right?

Pumbaa, I would say your Nightjar is the European one as that is the one that typically roosts sitting lengthwise on a branch.

Thanks Elsa & wildtuinman

Then we saw another European nightjar also later as this one was also roosting in a tree

There are still far so many birds I am not quite sure of :gflower: but never getting tired in learning

Seen this bird close to Tshokwane picnic site end of November 2014 in Kruger NP.
I'm not sure, is this an European nightjar?
Thank for help and greetings.
