You don't need a 4x4 but high ground clearance is recommended - a Ford Ka is probably not the best choice of vehicle.

Do you think we could make it in a peugoet 405 kombi.
Is it rather pothole or just very rough terrain. We are not worried about our old car, would just have to know that we would get thru.
How do we book this, can't find it in the Addo accommodation listing.
Thanks for answering,
greeting from the freezing Northern Hemisphere, looking forward to getting back home.

There are a few rocky river sections to get through (the river beds are mostly dry so water shouldn't be a problem). Take it easy and get out to move rocks etc if you need to (you are allowed to get out of your vehicle in the Kabouga section).

Hi gil,
As j-ms says, it is mostly the rocks underneath that could damage a low-clearance car that are the problem.

To book Kabouga, you can contact the reception office (Tel: 042 2338600) or email [email protected]

PLEASE NOTE: The Bedrogfontein 4x4 trail will be closed for a considerable period going forward. A section of the trail washed away during the last rains and will take some time to be repaired.

Additionally, bookings for both the Mvubu camp site and Kabouga Cottage are closed until further notice.

Park Management apologises for the inconvenience, but they assure guests that improved facilities await them once all are re-opened.

Can anyone advise on the latest developments at Mvubu Campsite? I believe that SANParks now has dangerous game in this section and the campsite is now fenced.
Have the facilities been improved?

Bit odd that no admin could advise on this :wall:
However, for those that may be interested, I have established that the Kabouga area now has "dangerous" game including elephant and buffalo and the campsite and cottage are now fenced in. I have not been able to establish whether the campground has been improved but one would assume it has been if the expense of fencing has been implemented.
