On a rocky promontory above the beach in the easternmost portion of Addo Elephant National Park is a concrete replica of the limestone cross erected on that spot by Bartholemew Dias in 1488. The original Dias Cross, the oldest European structure in South Africa and now a national monument, is housed in the foyer of a small library at Wits University.

Thank you for that interesting information, Chacma. I was mystified for a while there. I had been looking at Namaqua NPs coastline very carefully on Google maps, assuming the answer had to be there, before I turned my attention the only other remaining bit of coast that hadn’t been eliminated yet. There it was, the historical Diaz Cross, clearly marked :)
