itinerary Mapungubwe, n of nights?

Unread post by Ruben »

Hi all,

What would you advice as a minimum/ideal length of time in Mapungubwe ? How many nights in which camp would you advice?
We're 2 adults and 2 kids of 9 and 12.

Best Regards,

Ruben

Hi Ruben,

We stayed in April two nights at Limpopo Forest Tented Camp and loved our day at Maloutswa hide. Then two nights at Leokwe rest camp. At Leokwe you might be lucky to see elephants walk through the rest camp and the pool is amazing. The outdoor shower might be super cool also for kids at Leokwe. Two sides of Mapungubwe NP are different - I recommend to stay in both sides.

In both camps are units for four people.

What ever you will decide, enjoy :D
4 parks trip :D :
Mokala NP March 22-26
Karoo NP March 26-29
Addo Elephant NP March 29 - April 1
Mountain Zebra NP April 1-5

thank you!

We've finally booked for our trip in July '25
2n limpopo forest tented camps and 2 nights leokwe!
After this we're heading to kruger.

What do you think of Tshugulu lodge vs limpopo forest tented camp, would there be any differences in terms of big game presence and suitability for younger kids?

Excellent

I have not stayed at Tshugulu lodge. All info I have is from SANParks webpage, but it seems to be more traditional accommodation compared to Limpopo Forest tented camp units have canvas walls. It might get chilly in July.
Sorry, I don't know where you are from. Are you kids used to sleep in cold conditions?

For me Mapungubwe is not about the big game, more about the views and athmosphere

colbol wrote just TR about his trip to Mapungubwe this July. You will find it here

It was easy drive from Leokwe rest camp via Musina (shopping) to Pafuri Gate and from there to stay at Punda Maria. R508 and R525 roads were is good condition
