Tuskers

Unread post by Tollie »

It was my privilege to photograph DUKE in 2007 not long before he passed, photos attached. Can anyone advise as to any upcoming tuskers in the making and likely areas to find.

Hi Tollie,

Wow! A sighting from 2007. I'm sure the memory is still clear in your mind! Indeed a privilege.

I will move your post to Past Tusker - Duke shortly. Thank you for sharing this.

You can follow and read up on all the upcoming tuskers currently being monitored in the SANParks Emerging Tuskers Project right here on the forums SANParks Tuskers

Re: Inaccurate report around the finding of Duke's first broken tusk

Unread post by wildtuinman »

Hi Rosemary.

The report completely omits the two guys who actually found Duke in the first place on that afternoon just before he broke his tusk and who played the important role in specifying Duke's last location when his tusk snapped.

Here is the far more actual story.

Hi wildtuinman,

The contents of the article, under the general section of Duke on the website, are a synopsis of the information received. There are no inaccuracies there but rather as you indicated, from your point of view an omission, as only the person who directly called the rangers name was included.
I have spoken to SANParks and this will be edited to rather not single out a particular member in the summary.

Attachments are provided along with the article, which give more detailed information and also reference the Duke quest in more detail - e.g. Extracts from ranger diary, email and article
