Cancellation fees

Unread post by RonS »

When making an on-line booking for say 6 months time you are asked to pay in full.
Reading the cancellation policy it only tells you what the cancellation fee is if you cancel 45 days before arrival (50%), it does not say what the cancellation fee is if cancelled more than 45 days prior to arrival.
Can anyone clarify this?
Thanks, Ron

Ron, as I see it cancellations 45 days prior would be a full refund.
Here they just mention more than 30 days.

Cancelling a reservation made here could result in cancellation fees.
These are calculated on the total value of the reservation that was cancelled.
Cancelling:
6 days or less prior to arrival (or not arriving at all) will result in a 100% cancellation fee
7 to 14 days before arrival will result in a 50% cancellation fee
15 to 30 days before arrival will result in a 25% cancellation fee.

Hi

If you cancel more than 45 days in advance you get a full refund.

Will a negative balance also be refunded if more than 45 days before arrival?

I have two upcoming stays, Addo and Kruger. I needed to adjust my dates and accomadation selections. I was able to do so online just fine. The Addo adjustment had a balance due which I paid and the Kruger adjustment cost less so I have a negative balance on that reservation. I wish I had thought to make the Kruger adjustment first, maybe I could have used the balance to pay the Addo difference. Oh well. If no refund will be issued for the negative balance, I was hoping to use that towards our wild card purchase. Is that reasonable? All travel is June 2025.

Thank you for your help. I know I can email San Parks my questions, and I will. You all are just quicker to respond and very thorough.

Yes, you can get a refund.
I was hoping to use that towards our wild card purchase.
Unfortunately you can't use your credit for wildcard purchases as they are different departments.
You can keep it for any of the activities like guided drives, walks etc for any future visits.

If you prefer to get a refund you will need to send a mail to [email protected] (presuming you are international!)
giving them your client code where your credit should be stored and they will send you a form which you must fill in and return to them.

Modifications:
For downgrading of a reservation when a deposit has been paid, percentage is calculated on the difference:
Modify within 30 to 15 days before arrival – 25%.
Modify within 14 to 7 days before arrival – 50%.
Modify within 6 days and less – 100%.
When modifying the arrival date to an earlier date, no modification fees will be charged, unless the total cost is
decreased and the arrival date before the modification fell inside the 30-day period.
If the arrival date of the itinerary is postponed prior to or on date of arrival and then cancelled at a later stage, the
fees that applied at the time of amendment will be enforced if the amount is greater than the new cancellation fees.
AFRICAT as I read the rules it is only mentioned downgrading the reservation so as I understand it, there should not be any modification fees for upgrading the reservation.
Hoping that is correct due to within the 7 to 14 day change.

Thank you once again Elsa! You are right to assume we are international visitors :D Much of this planning is hard to do from so far, but I know it will be an amazing trip. I think we will just use the balance towards a game drive. Easier and we wanted to do a San Park sunset drive at least once during our trip so that seems like the best plan. Must the credit be used at the camp where we are staying? I just checked and even after a Sunset drive, we will have leftover credit. Could we use credit from our Lower Sabie stay for an activity at Skukuza??
