Re: how do I renew my wildcard (foreigner)

Hello,

I'm counting down days now instead of months and I'm getting very excited to be breaking free at last. I was looking at renewing my Wildcard today and noticed the card I have is for a couple.

I want an individual one this time as I am traveling on my own this time.

Is it just better to wait until I get there to sort out Couple vs Individual or is there a way to do it online? When I pull up my information online to Renew it doesn't give me the opportunity to go from Couple to Individual. Is this even possible? Should I get a totally new card that is individual and save the other with Couple for another time when I have someone with me?

Thank you! :gflower:

Hi Chickadee
Yes you will need to buy a singles card for your up coming trip, as there is sadly no way to convert a couples card to a singles card.

Even if you could convert your couples card the cost would be the same, and as you say you can keep the couples card to be renewed when you next travel with another person, though make sure you record the name of the other person if it is different to the one on the card at the moment. We can’t pick and chose who we take with us. The name can only be changed when we renew.

Don’t forget that if you buy your card in the park you will need to update your details online within 30 days of purchase.

Hope all that makes sense and wishing you a wonderful visit.

are you sure about the single and couple card ?

I had a card for two. The next time I went I was travelling alone and used the same card and was charged the single rate.

After that I used it again as a couple and single card with no problems.
I renew it at the gate or camp, not online.

That was the information given to me by Wild Card when I asked them recently for another visitor who asked the same question.

Maybe Chickadee can report back to us on what was their experience.

Francesco, they no longer issue actual cards, but sure you will be able to renew it, or if all else fails just apply for a new one.
Do you know your W/c number perchance?
But they should be able to pick you up on the system with the passport/ID # you used and you can do that at the entrance or first camp reception.

You can also contact them with the following details

I am trying to buy a new couples wildcard for myself and my son. The expired one was for myself and my husband who sadly died last year.
Perhaps I'm missing something but I seem unable to find a way to purchase one. I reach "go to subscriptions" and can't go further . Advice please .

granjan, firstly condolences on the loss of your hubby! :gflower:

Sorry you are having trouble getting into the Online wild card system, there do seem to still be a few glitches every now and then!

We advise now that you consider renewing/purchasing the card at the first gate or camp when you come to the parks next time.
It usually takes little extra time so well worth the frustration.

Hi Marvin,

With the new SANParks One Account, your SANParks online profile will be linked to your Wild Card profile

https://www.sanparks.org/systems/account/

If your SANParks Online profile and your Wild Card profile is not under the same name you will need to register a new Wild Card profile under the same name as your SANParks Online Profile.

If both are under the same name then it is the same as in the past, you renew your card online.
Existing Wild Card members:

If you have an active WC membership but no user account (such as a web reservations user): Register for a user account first using the registration link. After registration log in with the 'Log in - Wild Card' button.

If you have a reservations website user account already: Continue to log into the system using the user log in details. Use the 'Log in - Wild Card' button.

Hi granjan

I had a similar problem when my husband died and managed to get the card modified and renewed on checking in at the first camp. It does take a bit of time but I had the satisfaction of knowing that it had been done properly!
